Hi everybody,

I'm doing an intersnship in RFID and I have a RFID problem that is giving me nightmares.

Well, I have a 400V antenna signal for a RFID reader (emission).

I receive only 2mV from my tag.

How can I handle the reception ???

I wonder whether the tag's signal is received in same time of the emission, or the emission signal is stopped during the reception ???
Well, I tried to find this information in the iso 15693 RFID standard, but I didn't find it.

Do you know anything about it? Or at least where can I find any clue ... ?

Thanks a lot for your future answers and have a nice day.

Hello everybody,
i'm new to this forum so i'll present myself. I'm Marco i came from South Italy and i'm a university student.
Currently i'm working on a project with CLRC632. I need to send command to the CLRC632 via SPI with a 8-bit microncontroller (MC9S08QE128 Freescale). I've studyied the datasheet and all the document correleted to this project but i've a simple but tricky question. For exemple which is the command for read the serial numeber (or ID) of a card (i'm using standard 4k mifare cards 14443A)? I mean i know the receive and transmit command of te CLRC632 ... but what i don't understand it's what to pass to this command. Is something releted to the standard IEC 14443A?

Hope in a help!!

Thank you all in advance.

Hi

Active RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) can be used also for position determination, although the system was not only developed for positioning and tracking but mainly for identification of objects. Using RFID in positioning, different approaches can be distinguished, i.e., cell-based positioning if the RFID tags are installed at active landmarks (i.e., known locations) in the surroundings, trilateration if ranges to the RFID tags are deducted from received signal strength (RSS in RFID terms) values and location fingerprinting where the measured signal power levels are used directly to obtain a position fix.

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. An RFID access control system can provide an easy and efficient solution to the cumbersome and time-consuming deficiencies in the legacy solutions that use the traditional access control systems. Barcodes, magnetic stripes, and proximity readers all rely on the user to either make contact or place the badge very close to the reader. In addition, bar codes can only be read one at a time and the respective embedded information cannot be updated. Badge rfid can be read from much further distances than other traditional technologies and the embedded electronic information for each badge can be over-written repeatedly. The increased reading distance thus enables other tracking technologies like surveillance cameras to be activated in conjunction with an employee being in their vicinity. Furthermore, multiple RFID badges can be read all at the same time. Information about employee access, attendance, and duties performed, can be easily and efficiently monitored and stored in a database.

An RFID Reader can read through most anything with the exception of conductive materials like water and metal, but with modifications and positioning, even these can be
overcome. RFID Read/Write tags can also hold more information and the information can be updated and changed as often as needed. A read/write tag becomes a portable database that travels with the product and allows companies to modify the data content throughout its journey along the supply chain.

Hi

Anti-collision doesn’t work for slot 15 in the TRF7960 firmware, using ISO15693.
This is a known bug, according to Texas Instruments. But I cannot get any support to make it fixed though.
I find the code hard to follow. Is there anyone that has a fix to this bug?

Best regard,

Ghost tags, using TI TRF7960

Hi

I'm using the TRF7960 reader from Texas Instruments to read ISO 15693 tags.

When making an Inventory call to two tags at the same time, the tags sometimes replies with the wrong UID's. (It's just like a ghost tag has replied instead of any of the two tags).
When I get a wrong UID at the Inventory call, the tags don't answer when i make an addressed Read Multiple Block call (not surprising).

The ghost tag phenomena mostly occur when the tags are in a position where they are hard to read (bad angle, or long distance).

The tags are of the same type. They have anti-collision support. I have tried with different tags from Melexis and ST Microelectronics, with the same result.

I have tried using different settings; AGC on/off, AM/PM, High/low data rate etc.

Is there anyone out there that has experienced the same phenomena? Or can anyone make a classified guess what is wrong? Shall not the reader make a CRC check to see that the replying UID's are valid?

Best regards,
Jörgen

I am starting a project that will create an UHF RFID reader. It will operate on a center frequency of 915 MHz. It must be implemented using a 32bit Microchip platform, with TCP/IP communication to a host computer for data analysis.

If anyone has links, or references that may help, I would appreciate any advice on a starting point for this project. I have found a few IC's such as the AS3990 that seem feasible. Thank you in advance for your help.
