What would be the legality, in Europe or USA, of a system using only the manufacturer ID of existing RFID cards (member point, ticketing etc.) ?
I am a bit lost in legal matters, an I can not find any info about this.
Do someone has or knows where I can get an answer to this ?

Thanks,

Hello,

I'm developing an application for a mifare DESFIRE card and a portable terminal from Ingenico (EFT930G Contactless).

I have done tests with SAM communications without problems (activating, selecting app, presenting the PIN...), I have also sent different commands to the card with good results: GetVersion (in order to get the card UID), GetApplicationIDs, SelectApplication...

My problem has appear when I'm trying to carry out the authentication process in order to get the session key.

I follow the first steps, but when I send the Authenticate Command to the card (with KeyID 0x01): 0x90, 0x0A, 0x00, 0x00, 0x01, 0x11, 0x00 the cards returns only 3 bytes, instead of 8.

I have tried many different things, as sending Additional Frame command (0x90, 0xAF, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00) in order to get the rest of the of the bytes, but the card always returns me the Command Aborted message: 91 CA

Please, can you help me with this issue?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi,
I know that RFID can be used for inventory tracking, but can it be used to show how far away a certain item is? Or better yet, the direction or even location of the item? I'm pretty sure this is possible, as seen in the "Loc8ter" device, but does anyone know how to turn a reader into a device that would do this?

Thanks in advance

Hello everyone.

I'm a software developer implementing a solution with the Symbol RFID XR 450 reader from motorola.

My question may sound a little dumb, but I do not have much knowledge on electronics.

We are using passive EPC GEN 2 tags. And sometimes those tags aren't read if they are covered with a blanket or a shirt, even if the antennas are on full power. I was wondering if I put two antennas in serie (one above the other) the signal may be amplified and that way the tag could be activated.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Matias

The company that I work for presently has a Zebra 110XiIII Plus Printer that we use for printing labels containing Text and Bar Codes from an MS Access based application. Our current printer comes with a single Roll of paper, and labels are printed in several different sizes. We are aware that the Zebra 110XiIII Plus Printer is RFID Ready, and we would be able to begin printing RFID Labels containing Text and Bar Codes. We are also aware that a hardware upgrade may need to be involved, and are trying to determine if there are any other steps we will need to take to make this happen.

I am sure that this is a very straightforward question that should be easy for someone here to answer. Never having used RFID, I am not in a position to make the analysis on my own. Does anyone have any advice?

i am writing a dissertation on RFID implementation in retail and would be very grateful if you can answer the following questions?

Do you agree retail outlets should implement RFID tags in store for better stock and lesser time at tills?

According to you RFID tags should be implemented in which areas and why?

Do you think Retail stores can use RFID tags to save customer data ?

What are your views on RFID privacy concerns ?

Do you think people fear of RFID technology is mainly due to less knowledge about the system?

Is killing function the only way to protect privacy?

http://www.oliver-marz.de/lime/index.php?sid=63165&lang=de

Die Bearbeitungszeit für diese Umfrage variiert je nach Einsatz von RFID. Es ist mit einer ungefähren Arbeitszeit von 10 bis 25 Minuten zu rechnen.

Vielen Dank für Ihre Unterstützung!

I'm currently researching a possible novel use for RFID... and would like to establish equipment to prototype.

The application demands that:

* Somewhere between 1 and 3K of application specific data is recorded onto tickets/cards (I'm thinking something like a ticket - probably not something as 'serious' as a plastic credit-card)
* Bringing the ticket into contact with any NFC enabled PC/phone would (somehow) trigger my application which would read the data on the card - and use it to interact with the user & remote web-services.

Key to the design is that the cards are cheap to produce - and that they allow interaction with the remote web-service with the minimum fuss.

There are security implications - but it doesn't matter if the RFID data can be cloned by a determined person... but there needs to be sufficient data that it is statistically impossible to clone a card to which one has no access... hence the capacity requirement. It would be fine (desirable, even) if the cards were write once read-many. The tickets should not need to be read remotely - they can be placed on a reader.

I'm looking for information on several fronts:

* Can anyone recommend a supplier for prototyping stuff... I'd need a couple of dozen RFIDs that I can program... (MIFare technology might suit - but I'm interested to pursue all avenues)
* Can anyone point me at any documentation detailing how NFC enabled phones, for example, will react to RFIDs... how do I associate my tickets with my application in the context of off-the-shelf RFID capable equipment?

Thanks for any hints you may be able to offer...

Steve
